April is here and we’ve got a carousel happening this month, as well as a beachside gathering. Also featured is DMI’s newest DJ instructor, Holliday Panasith who teaches every Monday evening in Santa Ana at The Pizza Press.

Upcoming Events

Sunday, April 13

The Tech Me 2 Da Beach event series is back! Their next beach party set to be on April 13th, featuring veteran DJ Colette as well as a host of local legends. It will take place at Vista Del Mar Park in Playa Del Rey. This event series has been a SoCal staple for a long time now. Come show your support and enjoy the fresh air outdoors!

Sunday April 27

We’ve scheduled our first DJ Carousel event of the year! It will be held in an incredible private outdoor venue located in Silverado. The address will be revealed later so make sure you RSVP to the facebook event link above to get the address. We are super grateful to our host for opening up his space for our next gathering. Carousels are an opportunity for our community to collaborate with no judgment. Stay till the end because we’ve got some fun games and prizes planned for y’all.

Here’s some pictures of previous Carousels…

Instructor Spotlight

Introducing longtime supporter of DMI and now esteemed member of our dedicated team of instructors, Holliday Panasith is sharing his knowledge and experience with students at our Free DJ Lessons on Mondays. No stranger to education and generosity, he recently gave a guest lecture on using Ableton for precision mixing, shared insights on our discussion panel about track digging, and has booked many of our DJs for his events. Here is his DJ bio:

Holliday has been DJing and immersed in the electronic music scene for over two decades. Exposed to vinyl in his early teens, he vividly remembers his first gig at just 13 years old—an outdoor musical gathering in the Bay Area. Guided by mentors he deeply admired, Holliday grew into the skillful DJ he is today. His biggest musical inspirations include Sasha, Planisphere, Peace Division, Arizona, Paul Oakenfold, Octagen, and Airbase.

Our newest instructor is the founder of the Ayamterrain tribe and music label, launched in 2020. The collective is made up of passionate DJs and producers, many of whom were previously active in the Undercurrent and DeepAura event series in 2010 and 2014, respectively. Holliday explains, “Ayamterrain is a deep expression of landscape and nature, much of which unites us in the tribe. This is the heart from which we express our craft as collectors.”

Holliday’s go-to genres are Deep House, Dubtechno, Deep Progressive, and Progressive Trance. He recently released a mix series called Terrain, inspired by his love and early memories of trance. “Styles or genres are beautiful ways to communicate an idea, a vibe, and sound… but my journal of mixes, Terrain, has been healthy for my heart and soul.”
