Personal Message
Being a product of my environment, my love for music is undoubtedly rooted in 1990’s New York Hip Hop. Producing, recording, and DJing in 2003 was the beginning of my journey as an artist which largely shaped my trajectory, but in time my tastes began to evolve and a void became evident. The soundtrack to life had to be more dynamic, to meet the variation of mood and energy in each moment. A natural path began to form, from Hip Hop to R&B to Jazz to Downtempo to Deep House to Organic House to Progressive House and on. I love curating a sound that uniquely complements an environment and its energy but connecting with others through this medium is what’s truly fulfilling.
DMI Impact
I’m so grateful I stumbled upon Dance Music Initiative at their carousel event in downtown Santa Ana. Producing and DJing was a huge part of my life before I took an alternate path. For years I’d been longing to reactivate my creative side, but didn’t find the right outlet to jump-start the process. DMI provided the ideal environment that I needed to learn more about my motivations and abilities at an important point in my life.
The artists at DMI were very effective in helping me learn many elements of DJing that I hadn’t been exposed to—specifically the art of beat matching and mixing house music on vinyl. The challenge of mastering the craft in its purest form has been fun, rewarding, and given me more confidence than ever. Thank you to everyone at DMI for inspiring me to find my creative side and immerse myself in music on a deeper level.
